  17. I got 171 marks for the assistant post. I am from west bengal and belong to SC category, but would like to join as a general category candidate. Is there any chance? Also please tell me the procedure for applying in banks within west bengal. Also is there any opportunity during interview to get the posting as per my choice? Thanks in advance.

    1. Hi tapas, I m 4rm West bengal too..I would suggest you to retain ur SC cat for the following reasons..
      1. It wud help u to get better posting (if not Kolkata considering the fact that ur a male and the bank is rural) as ur marks is quite high in SC cat..u’ll get favorable preferences.

      2. Regarding future promotion/seniority and salary hike it wud be of immense help to be a privileged cat(ST/SC/OBC) rather than being general.

      3. Think about it..When a privileged cat choose to be a general it lessens the chance of a general candidate even more ( as already they are not exempted on age as SC/ST get 5 yrs and OBC 3 yrs / burden of higher cut off marks/ higher application fees/ limited vaccancy)..If u choose to be a general with ur 171 marks; a general candidate with the very same marks and may be economically weak can suffer for their life..While u will not gain any added advantage out of it..So why do it when ur already safe!! So I wud like to request you not to do this..rest is upon u …Thnak u..

    2. Thank you friend for your advice. I don't know whether it's a good score or bad, but joining in this post is my second choice as I am preparing for other exams as well. I already cleared the state civil service exam this year with quite good general score, and also selected for the IBPS PO - IV interview. So, joining RRB would be my last option as you can see, so no general candidate should have any qualms about me joining as a general candidate. Because as of now that is very unlikely, and even if I join I will leave this post very soon. But even if I join I would like to join as a general candidate because people from a particular community are suffering both socially and economically for thousand of years and even now. So, this kind of little compensation they rather deserve. The so called pseudo upper-cast people were spoiling humanity with their fake prejudice to their very own community for thousand of years, even in this age of science they are enjoying quite good social status without doing anything. A non-brahmin (even he was ksatriya or bashya or sudra) was exposed to oppression even if he was super talented by the so called rich priest-brahmins like same way as our cheap-corrupt-politicians do in these days, even now they are mostly Brahmins. But even after all these, some great people from the oppressed class like Balmiki, Chandragupta Maurya, may be even Guptas, Meghnad Saha, father of Indian constitution Ambedkar came out to prove that quality of being human have nothing to do with any caste. So, community of priests should suffer and sow what they were reaping for thousands of years. Long leave humanity and corrupt spoilers should go to hell. Thanks. But if someone is poor we should surely help him irrespective of his caste. I totally agree with that.

    3. Thnks for your reply Tapas..The thing is your comments are quite self contradictory..didn't get why u want to join as a gen cat as, SC/ST are suffering and u hate being a gen.(according to you). This surely shows sheer hypocrisy, sorry to say.. Buddy u need to understand that reservation is ok..but doing reservation on the basis of caste in not ok at all for the sake of vote bank politics(even u know that, but u'll not agree I guess, you can refer to 2011 assembly case sub quota)..reservation should be there for poor people not for upper class gen/sc/st or any damn specific cast...There is no justification for reservation in jobs/academics against Untouchability of archaic era..And if u think this is a kind of "LITTLE" compensation, you must have that much confidence that next time u fill ur form without your sc certificate...You should be proud of your class rather than justifying the horrible system and pretending to be general...And by the way who the hell are you to decide who to suffer!!!!!!!!!!!!!
